Hip Hop Urban Jam - Spring 2013

All Young Champions Hip-Hop students are invited to this "SPECIAL" Urban Jam Showcase event! Each team will perform a hip-hop dance routine learned in class and compete against other teams of the same basic age and skill level. Teams will be judged on their overall performance, style, personality and execution. There will be a practice with your coach prior to the start of the Showcase. All participants will receive a large trophy and will be competing for 1st - 4th place medals! This is a great opportunity for students to showcase the material they have been working on all semester in a performance setting!

ALL Young Champions Hip Hop students are invited to participate in the Urban Jam Showcase.
Students will perform the hip hop dance routines that have been taught during class - including choreography, tricks & poses, and freestyle as a PERFORMANCE PIECE (all songs together).
**ALL participants will receive a YCOA exclusive hip hop trophy for participating!**
Our Urban Jam Showcase is designed to promote the positive aspects of hip hop dance and culture while empowering our students as they showcase their love and dedication for dance. The event is for ALL
students, giving them a platform to demonstrate the routines and skills they have been learning during the course of the semester in a fun and supportive environment! We hope that ALL our YCOA hip hop
students will take advantage of this awesome opportunity and participate in this FUN, REWARDING, & EXCITING hip hop event!
THE HIP HOP TEAM UNIFORM IS REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE URBAN JAM EVENT.
DRESS: ALL participants are required to wear their Young Champions team hip-hop uniforms. If you do not have a uniform, you may purchase one at the Showcase during registration.
JUNIOR DANCE FORCE: Junior D.F. students need to wear the “Juniorz” T-shirt ($12), Black team cargo pants ($28), tennis shoes, and other matching accessories.
XTREME DANCE FORCE: Xtreme D.F. students need to wear the “Xtreme” T-shirt ($12), Black team cargo pants ($28), tennis shoes, and other matching accessories.
PLATINUM DANCE FORCE: Platinum D.F. students need to wear the “Platinum” T-shirt ($12), Black team cargo pants ($28), tennis shoes, and other matching accessories.
In addition, other accessory items such as earrings, bandanas, dog tags and hats can be worn. YCOA has accessory merchandise available for sale such as vintage hats (black -$10), team bandanas ($2), and earrings. Students are expected to look performance ready while showcasing their unique hip-hop style and personality. Girls may wear a "little" makeup, if parents permit.
*If students do NOT have their team uniform, they can purchase one immediately directly at class via raffle packet or you can purchase the day of the Showcase during Registration (white supplies last).
*Alternations such as cutting or styling the T-shirt is allowed, please check with your instructor on specific accessories or styling they wish for the team.

Students will compete with their class against other students of the same basic age and skill level.
Optional Freestyle Battle – 1st through 6th place awards!
Students May Participate in Two Ways
1. By dancing in the Showcase with their team, which will start the Urban Jam
2. By entering into the Freestyle Battle individually
In the Showcase, students will perform with their team presenting the dance routine (timing is at the discretion of the instructor) that they have been learning and practicing at class.
The Freestyle Battle is an optional event where students will freestyle – showcasing their best and most creative dance moves against other students of the same basic age and skill level.

School is located at the corner of Glendale Ave. & 23rd Ave. in Phoenix. Just East of the I-17 Freeway. Take I-17, exit on Glendale going east, turn S. on 23rd Ave. to parking lot. Do NOT park along 23rd Ave. opposite the football field please, there is a lot on the corner of 23rd Ave. & Ocotillo that will be used for overflow parking (if necessary.)
EVENT FEES:
$30.00 per student
$7.00 per student to enter the Freestyle Battle (optional event–strongly recommended)
$2.00 Spectator Fee (per person- age 13 and older) *Children 12 and under are FREE
OPTIONAL: Team Photo will be available for $10.00 and a Trophy Label for $5.00
TIME SCHEDULE - Afternoon Session
Event Registration: 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
Practice With Coach/Team: 1:45 - 2:20 p.m.
Showcase Performances: 2:25 - 4:15 p.m.
Freestyle Battle: 4:20 - 4:55 p.m.
Awards Presentation: 5:00 - 5:15 p.m.
*Please Note that dismissal for ALL dancers will take place at the conclusion of the Awards Presentation per team level. Students will not be permitted to leave early or prior to this designated time for the safety of all our students.

Students who are “Pre-Registered” online will NOT have to wait in line the day of the event. We will have a special “Online Registration” check-in for these students!
Day of Registration: Students can register for the Urban Jam the day of, - during the “Registration Time” scheduled (On site parents/guardians can pay with a check or cash only!
*Please be ON TIME for event registration, as the “Practice with Coach” and “Event” will begin on time and we don’t want anyone missing their team performance!
