  FALL 2008 URBAN JAM HIP HOP SHOWCASE 

ALL Young Champions Hip-Hop students are invited to participate in the Saturday Urban Jam Showcase event.  Students will compete with their team against other teams of the same basic age and skill level.  Each team will perform a hip-hop dance routine that they have learned at class.  Students will be judged on their overall performance, style, personality and execution. There will be a practice with your coach prior to the start of the Showcase.  All participants will receive a large trophy and will be competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons!  This is a great opportunity for students to showcase the material they have been learning and reviewing at class all semester!

 

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION – JAM DETAILS…

When:        SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd 

Place:  Central High School (4525 N. Central Ave., Phoenix)

(between Indian School & Camelback, enter from 7th Street since the Central Ave. entrance is closed for construction) (From the West Valley take I-10 east to the 7th St.. exit, then north on 7th St. past Indian School Road, to Central High School entrance road, turn left  to the school.  From the East Valley, take US-60 to the 101Loop North; then to the 202 Loop West to the 7th St. exit; go north on 7th Street to Indian School, just past Indian School at Central High School entrance road turn left  to the school.   From North and Northeast Phoenix, take I-17 south and exit on Camelback. Go east on Camelback to 7th Street., south on 7th Street to Central High School entrance road, turn right to the school.)

Cost:
Registration Fee:  $25.00  per student
Freestle  Battle:  $6.00  *optional event---highly recommended for all students to participate.  Great Experience!

SPECTATOR FEE:  $2.00 per person age and older (children age 12 and under are FREE)

Merchandise:  A variety of Hip-Hop merchandise and plenty of snacks & refreshments will be available for purchase at the event all day!

 DRESS:  ALL participants are required to wear their Young Champions hip-hop uniforms.  If you do not have a uniform, you may purchase one at the Showcase during registration.

JUNIOR DANCE FORCE: Junior D.F. students need to wear the Black “Hip Hop Juniorz” T-shirt ($12), camouflage cargo pants ($35), and black tennis shoes.

 XTREME DANCE FORCE:  Xtreme D.F. students need to wear the blue “Hip Hop Generation” T-shirt ($12), camouflage cargo pants ($35), and black tennis shoes.

 PLATINUM DANCE FORCE:  Platinum D.F. students need to wear the grey “Platinum Dance Force” T-shirt ($12), camouflage cargo pants ($35) and black tennis shoes.

 In addition, other accessory items such as earrings, bandanas, dog tags and hats can be worn.  YCOA has accessory merchandise available for sale such as vintage hats (black or green---$10), beanies ($12), bandanas ($2), and dog tags ($5).  Students are expected to look performance ready while showcasing their unique hip-hop style and personality.  Girls may wear a "little" makeup, if parents permit.

9:30 - 10:15 a.m.  Registration and Uniform Sales

11:00 -12:30 p.m.  Showcase
12:30 - 1:00 p.m.  Freestyle Battle

Sonoran Heights (Surprise), Solano, Byron Barry, Palm Valley and Desert Horizon

P.M. Afternoon Session:
1:30 - 2:15 p.m.  Registration and Uniform Sales
2:15 - 3:00 p.m.  Practice w/ Coach
3:00 -4:30 p.m.  Showcase
4:30 - 5:00 p.m.  Freestyle Battle
